Dramatic Presentation : An Encounter with King David Dave Westfall
Basic Theme : “ Encounter Encourage Engage ” is a sermon series focusing on experiencing God ’ s presence , receiving God ’ s encouragement as we seek to encourage others , and actively engaging in God ’ s mission . This series emphasizes deepening personal faith through encounters with God , finding strength and hope in God ’ s promises , and translating that empowerment into meaningful action within our community of faith and beyond the walls of the church .
So What ? What can we learn from this encounter with God ? How can we live as people whose sins are forgiven and learn to rest in God during the difficulties of life ? Will you seek to be an encouragement to others as they endure life ’ s struggles ? Will we take our faith , hope , and light beyond the walls of our church as we seek to engage our community ?
Scripture : Psalm 32 : 1-8 , 11 ( NIV )

Blessed is the one whose transgressions are forgiven , whose sins are covered . 2 Blessed is the one whose sin the LORD does not count against them and in whose spirit is no deceit . 3 When I kept silent , my bones wasted away through my groaning all day long . 4 For day and night your hand was heavy on me ; my strength was sapped as in the heat of summer . 5 Then I acknowledged my sin to you and did not cover up my iniquity . I said , “ I will confess my transgressions to the LORD .” And you forgave the guilt of my sin . 6 Therefore let all the faithful pray to you while you may be found ; surely the rising of the mighty waters will not reach them .

You are my hiding place ; you will protect me from trouble and surround me with songs of deliverance . 8 I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go ; I will counsel you with my loving eye on you .

Today we welcome Dave Westfall , “ In Character ” as King David . Dave studied music and theater at Indiana University where he was a member of the Singing Hoosiers . Dave eventually moved to New York where , for 15 years , he pursued his Broadway dreams . Dave has combined his seminary education and artistic skills into a ministry of sharing the Gospel through acting and song . Dave puts his trust in God through Christ , believing God ’ s intentions will go far beyond his own expectations .
The altar flowers are given to the glory of God , and in memory of all beloved family members who have passed , by Rosalie Lamping .
