October 4, 2026 Welcome to Trinity!
Basic Theme:
“ Breaking Bread Together” is rooted in Acts 2:42-47, where the early believers devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching, to fellowship, to the breaking of bread, and to prayer. They shared meals in homes with glad and generous hearts, and the Lord added to their number daily. This series invites us to recover that same practice— beginning at the Lord’ s Table on World Communion Sunday and continuing through intentional meals in our homes and at Dinner Church. When we break bread together we strengthen the bonds of our church family, practice radical hospitality, and make the gospel visible in everyday life.
Sermon Snapshot( Key Points):
On World Communion Sunday we gather at the Lord’ s Table as Jesus did with his disciples. He took bread, gave thanks, broke it, and gave it, saying,“ This is my body.” This meal unites us with believers across the globe and the centuries. Drawing from Acts 2, we see that the same table that nourishes our faith also forms a community that shares life deeply. Breaking this bread is both gift and call— to belong to one another as the body of Christ.
So What?
How does receiving the bread and cup today reshape the way I view the people sitting around me in this sanctuary? What does it mean for our local church to be part of the worldwide body of Christ that shares this one table? In what practical ways can I“ discern the body of Christ” in the coming week?
Do This!
After worship, greet three people you do not know or know well, introduce yourself, and have a simple conversation.
Scripture: Acts 2:42-47; Matthew 26:26-28( NIV)
42
They devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and to fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer.
43
Everyone was filled with awe at the many wonders and signs performed by the apostles. 44 All the believers were together and had everything in common. 45 They sold property and possessions to give to anyone who had need.
46
Every day they continued to meet together in the temple courts. They broke bread in their homes and ate together with glad and sincere hearts, 47 praising God and enjoying the favor of all the people. And the Lord added to their number daily those who were being saved.
26
While they were eating, Jesus took bread, and when he had given thanks, he broke it and gave it to his disciples, saying,“ Take and eat; this is my body.” 27 Then he took a cup, and when he had given thanks, he gave it to them, saying,“ Drink from it, all of you. 28 This is my blood of the new covenant, which is poured out for many for the forgiveness of sins.
