ORDER OF WORSHIP October 25, 2026 | Page 4

October 25, 2026 Welcome to Trinity!

Basic Theme:
“ Breaking Bread Together” is rooted in Acts 2:42-47, where the early believers devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching, to fellowship, to the breaking of bread, and to prayer. They shared meals in homes with glad and generous hearts, and the Lord added to their number daily. This series invites us to recover that same practice— beginning at the Lord’ s Table on the 20th Sunday after Pentecost and continuing through intentional meals in our homes and at Dinner Church. When we break bread together, we strengthen the bonds of our church family, practice radical hospitality, and make the gospel visible in everyday life.
Sermon Snapshot( Key Points):
When Jesus called Matthew, the new disciple’ s first response was to throw a party in his home— inviting both his fellow tax collectors and sinners and Jesus’ disciples to the same table. This“ Matthew Party” models gospel hospitality: bringing church family and unchurched friends together around a meal so that outsiders encounter the welcome of Jesus. Drawing from Acts 2 and Matthew’ s table, we are challenged to open our homes and Dinner Church tables as places where believers and seekers share life, and the Lord continues to add to our number.
So What?
Who are the“ tax collectors and sinners” in my life that I could invite to sit at a table with people from our church family? What fears or hesitations keep me from hosting a meal that mixes church friends and non-churched neighbors? How might a simple“ Matthew Party” become a natural way for someone far from God to experience the welcome of Jesus through our church family?
Do This!
Plan one“ Matthew Party” meal in the next month— invite at least two people from the church and two non-churched friends or neighbors to share a table together. Or, simply invite some friends to join you at Dinner Church.

As Jesus went on from there, he saw a man named Matthew sitting at the tax collector’ s booth.“ Follow me,” he told him, and Matthew got up and followed him. 10 While Jesus was having dinner at Matthew’ s house, many tax collectors and sinners came and ate with him and his disciples. 11 When the Pharisees saw this, they asked his disciples,“ Why does your teacher eat with tax collectors and sinners?” 12 On hearing this, Jesus said,“ It is not the healthy who need a doctor, but the sick. 13 But go and learn what this means:‘ I desire mercy, not sacrifice.’ For I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners.”
