October 11, 2026 Welcome to Trinity!
Basic Theme:
“ Breaking Bread Together” is rooted in Acts 2:42-47, where the early believers devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching, to fellowship, to the breaking of bread, and to prayer. They shared meals in homes with glad and generous hearts, and the Lord added to their number daily. This series invites us to recover that same practice— beginning at the Lord’ s Table on the 20th Sunday after Pentecost and continuing through intentional meals in our homes and at Dinner Church. When we break bread together we strengthen the bonds of our church family, practice radical hospitality, and make the gospel visible in everyday life.
Sermon Snapshot( Key Points):
Two disciples walked the road to Emmaus with heavy hearts. The risen Jesus joined them, yet they recognized him only when he sat at the table, took bread, blessed and broke it, and gave it to them. In that simple act their eyes were opened. This sermon explores how Christ still reveals himself— and how we discover one another— around ordinary tables. Whether in our homes or at Dinner Church, the breaking of bread remains a place of recognition, restoration, and renewed hope.
So What?
When have I experienced Christ or deeper connection with others around a shared meal? Who in my life needs an invitation to my table so that eyes might be opened and hope restored? How might regular shared meals become a spiritual practice that strengthens our church family?
Do This!
Invite one person, couple or family from the church( or a neighbor) to share a simple meal in your home this month.
Scripture: Acts 2:42-47; Luke 24:28-35( NIV)

They devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and to fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer.
43
Everyone was filled with awe at the many wonders and signs performed by the apostles. 44 All the believers were together and had everything in common. 45 They sold property and possessions to give to anyone who had need. 46 Every day they continued to meet together in the temple courts. They broke bread in their homes and ate together with glad and sincere hearts, 47 praising God and enjoying the favor of all the people. And the Lord added to their number daily those who were being saved.

As they approached the village to which they were going, Jesus continued on as if he were going farther.

But they urged him strongly,“ Stay with us, for it is nearly evening; the day is almost over.” So he went in to stay with them. 30 When he was at the table with them, he took bread, gave thanks, broke it and began to give it to them. 31 Then their eyes were opened and they recognized him, and he disappeared from their sight. 32 They asked each other,“ Were not our hearts burning within us while he talked with us on the road and opened the Scriptures to us?” 33 They got up and returned at once to Jerusalem. There they found the Eleven and those with them, assembled together 34 and saying,“ It is true! The Lord has risen and has appeared to Simon.” 35 Then the two told what had happened on the way, and how Jesus was recognized by them when he broke the bread.
