June 14, 2026 Welcome to Trinity!
Basic Theme:
This series explores Old Testament pioneers whose bold steps of faith blazed trails of obedience, trust, and redemption. Their stories inspire us to enrich our faith through deeper daily reliance on God, engage in serving others with the fruit of the Spirit, and expand our faith family by intentionally inviting friends, neighbors, coworkers, and family into the same life-changing promises. As Paul challenges us in 1 Timothy 4:7-8, we are called to“ train ourselves to be godly.” These pioneers model the spiritual training that builds lasting godliness with value for this life and the life to come.
Sermon Snapshot( Key Points):
Rahab risked everything to hide the spies and confessed faith in Israel’ s God, securing salvation for her household. Her bold step shows that no past disqualifies us. As we train ourselves to be godly, we enrich trust by declaring God’ s power, serve through courageous hospitality and kindness, and expand our faith family by welcoming outsiders.
So What?
What past failure or label might God want to redeem in your life? How can you show risky hospitality and kindness to someone new this week? Who in your neighborhood or workplace feels like an“ outsider” you could welcome with the love of Christ?
Do This!
Take a risk and practice hospitality. Host a neighbor, coworker or a member of the Trinity Church family in your home this month for a meal. Do you have a faith story to share?
Scripture Reading: 1 Timothy 4:7-8; Joshua 2:8-14( NIV)
7
Have nothing to do with godless myths and old wives’ tales; rather, train yourself to be godly. 8 For physical training is of some value, but godliness has value for all things, holding promise for both the present life and the life to come.
8
Before the spies lay down for the night, she went up on the roof 9 and said to them,“ I know that the Lord has given you this land and that a great fear of you has fallen on us, so that all who live in this country are melting in fear because of you. 10 We have heard how the Lord dried up the water of the Red Sea for you when you came out of Egypt, and what you did to Sihon and Og, the two kings of the Amorites east of the Jordan, whom you completely destroyed. 11 When we heard of it, our hearts melted in fear and everyone’ s courage failed because of you, for the Lord your God is God in heaven above and on the earth below.
12
“ Now then, please swear to me by the Lord that you will show kindness to my family, because I have shown kindness to you. Give me a sure sign 13 that you will spare the lives of my father and mother, my brothers and sisters, and all who belong to them— and that you will save us from death.” 14“ Our lives for your lives!” the men assured her.“ If you don’ t tell what we are doing, we will treat you kindly and faithfully when the Lord gives us the land.”
