Sermon Title : Christmas Clothes Rev . Tom McGilliard Basic Theme :
Our purpose in life is to reflect the nature of Jesus .
Sermon Snapshot ( Key Points ): If we are to carry out the mission of bringing hope , peace , love and joy to our world we must put on the nature of Jesus . Our purpose in life is to become like Jesus . Romans 8:29 says “ God knew what he was doing from the very beginning . He decided from the outset to shape the lives of those who love him along the same lines as the life of his Son .” ( The Message ). It doesn ’ t matter so much what our job , career , age , health condition or status is in life ; what matters is being transformed into the likeness of Jesus . By the grace of God we are being transformed into the image of Jesus . We want to be clothed with the nature of Jesus .
So What ? Every day we want to be intentional about becoming more like Jesus in the way we act , think and speak so that we will bless those around us and draw them closer to God through Jesus Christ .

Therefore , as God ’ s chosen people , holy and dearly loved , clothe yourselves with compassion , kindness , humility , gentleness and patience . 13 Bear with each other and forgive one another if any of you has a grievance against someone . Forgive as the Lord forgave you . 14 And over all these virtues put on love , which binds them all together in perfect unity .

Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts , since as members of one body you were called to peace . And be thankful . 16 Let the message of Christ dwell among you richly as you teach and admonish one another with all wisdom through psalms , hymns , and songs from the Spirit , singing to God with gratitude in your hearts . 17 And whatever you do , whether in word or deed , do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus , giving thanks to God the Father through him .
