As we continue our reading of great American novels and historical fiction, we will be discussing The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald. The Great Gatsby, a 1925 novel, is set in the Jazz Age on Long Island, near New York City. The novel depicts first-person narrator Nick Carraway ' s interactions with Jay Gatsby, a mysterious millionaire obsessed with reuniting with his former lover, Daisy Buchanan. The novel was inspired by a youthful romance Fitzgerald had with socialite Ginevra King and the riotous parties he attended on Long Island ' s North Shore in 1922.
Don’ t want to read the book, no problem. We always have interesting discussions. There will be a free showing of the movie " The Great Gatsby " in the Activities building on Monday August 25, movie starts at 1:00 pm!
