Continued from page 1 – enjoying the journey
let’ s continue this path together, trusting Christ to lead us into His peace.
Holy Week is the heartbeat of our Lenten journey, a time to remember, mourn, and rejoice in Jesus’ passion, death, and resurrection. It begins on Palm Sunday, April 13. Join us at 9:00 am or 11:11 am to shout“ Hosanna!”— recalling Jesus’ triumphant entry into Jerusalem. This day launches a week of deep reflection and worship. On Maundy Thursday, April 17, we’ ll gather at 7:00 pm for a service that brings us into the Upper Room, where Jesus washed the disciples’ feet and shared the Last Supper. It’ s a night to reflect on His servant-hearted love and our call to follow His example. Then, on Good Friday, April 18, at 7:00 pm, we’ ll hold a powerful service featuring a dramatic reading,“ Lest We Forget.” This moving service will draw us into the weight of Christ’ s sacrifice on the cross, ensuring we remember the cost of our redemption.
The shadow of Friday fades into the light of resurrection at our Easter Sunrise Service on
April 20 at 7:00 am. Join us as we greet the risen Lord with the declaration,“ He is risen!” and the celebration of Holy Communion— a sacred moment to receive Christ’ s presence and grace. Then worship at one of our regular Easter services at 9:00 am and 11:11 am to celebrate the Resurrection and the Good News that Christ’ s victory offers us peace. Invite someone to join us; Easter is a perfect time to share the hope we’ ve found in Christ.
As we carry Easter’ s joy forward, don’ t miss Laity Sunday on April 27. We’ ll hold a combined worship service at 10:00 am, led by our talented lay leaders. This is a chance to witness the body of Christ at work as members share their gifts and stories. Afterward, we’ ll gather for a pot-luck lunch in the Murr Hall. Bring a dish to share and let’ s enjoy time together.
Friends, the road from Lent to Easter is one we’ re meant to travel as a family. It’ s in coming together— singing in worship, sharing meals, and lifting each other in prayer— that we overcome life’ s troubles and find peace in Christ. Let’ s commit to being present for these Holy Week services and beyond, trusting God to meet us there. If you’ ve felt distant or burdened, know you’ re welcome here. Come as you are, and let Christ’ s love renew you.
May this April be a season of overcoming through the One who overcame for us. I look forward to seeing you in worship and around the table! The invitation extended by Jesus to his earliest disciples continues to be offered to us,“ Follow me.” Will we extend that invitation to others? We may not always know where we are going, but we know whom we are following. God is faithful. Therefore, we expect great things and we are certain we will enjoy the ride!
Blessings!
